Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who has achieved great fame with the stories she recounts about her early heartbreak. Swift's love for music started at an early stage. From plays for children to performing before thousands, Swift made rapid progress. Swift was just 11 when she performed The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. In the following year, she began writing songs and got a guitar. Swift took inspiration from artists who played country music, like Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks and, more recently, the Chicks to create original material which reflected the alienation she experienced by 13. Swift moved from Pennsylvania with her parents in Tennessee to Hendersonville when she was 13 years old to dedicate more time to reaching out to country labels.
